Inside The VenueA look inside NSM's exhibits & attractions

The National Sports Museum provides an experience unlike any in NYC, the nation or the world.
As a family-oriented attraction, The National Sport Museum's exhibits engage people of all ages through an interactive and celebratory environment. The National Sports Museum includes permanent and rotating exhibits, a 360-degree immersion theater, special event spaces, an extensive retail area, a ballpark-style cafe and a fine-dining restaurant.
The Hall of Halls
The National Sports Museum displays a ring of individual tributes to North America's great sports museums, sports halls of fame and sports-related organizations that have partnered with, and are resources for The National Sports Museum. Each area features interactive kiosks to provide detailed information about partner venues and organizations, including a promotional video designed to draw visitors to them.
Immersion Theater
During a spectacular 8 minute film presentation, National Sports Museum visitors occupy the center of the theater space, surrounded by a multi-layered 360-degree video projection system.
The film begins with images of empty stadiums and arenas, then proceeds through time-lapse photography to show those venues fill with fans.
Then the game begins: first serves thunder off rackets, drives explode from metal woods, footballs are kicked off, and basketballs tipped. The intensity builds as the games proceed and visitors are taken through half-times and time-outs, building to a pulsating final sequence, showing fans celebrating after a thrilling win. Throughout the film, on a Jumbotron, athletes, fans, owners and coaches at all levels of sports talk about each stage of "the game" as it is shown.
Sport-Specific Areas
In a series of National Sports Museum exhibits we look at all the major sports. Each sport-specific room features artifacts, architecture and even scents that put the visitor in an immediately recognizable locale-on the field or in the arena. Each sports-specific room within The National Sports Museum touches on the sport's history, it's unique place within the fabric of sports & culture, greatest figures and moments, physical mechanics and more.
Each room features a historical timeline of its sport, as well as a video presentation of fans and athletes explaining why they love that sport so much.
Build the Perfect Athlete
Everyone is an athlete in some way, so The National Sports Museum explores the three basic components of any athletic pursuit: mental, physical and psychological preparation.
- MIND: The ability to make split-second decisions.
- BODY: The tools of size, strength and speed.
- ATTITUDE: The commitment to excel.
